No, 102: BUNCH OF RICH KIDS / "You went WHERE? Not a chance." The bit of my personal history that always catches folks off guard and the project that might spin out of it.
In a side turn from sportswriting, I set aside a project a few years back, but a conversation with a friend last week might be enough to put the booster cables to it.
A BIT OF an advisory here: I had to go to the doctor’s office and then to hospital on Friday with what’s been a recurring nightmare in my adult life: pneumonia. I almost bought the farm back in 2019 when my lung function was down to 15 percent and my blood pressure dropped to 60/40 at check-in for a hospital stay of 11 days. That’s when I got sick at the Stanley Cup Final. That sorry bit of history might be a whole instalment in this space at a later date, but I’m not up to retelling it today. Might be tempting fate. I did get antibiotics into me and the doctor says when in doubt, hit emergency. Unfortunately I know how this drill goes. So if I’m a little spotty with entries this week, it might be because I’m trying to sleep through this as best I can.
Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated, but don’t mind me if I’m banking on Amoxicillin.
